Remark:

At the beginning of this “day of creation” all modes of life (plant ... animal ... human being) are present, and they are expressed by the (five mutable) living beings on the square through their permanent changes.
Thereby a natural tendency becomes obvious: the tendency of the lower beings to preferably evolve into higher beings. An exception is given by man.

To each of the changing living beings corresponds (also in changing) a light-being (white) and a shade-being (black).

Together with the living beings their light- and shade-beings are simultaneously present; they only become visible a little later (sequence: living being ... light-being ... shade-being).

If we consider two directions in space regarding the light- and shade-beings:

– the side which is turned towards the living beings and

– the side which is turned away from the living beings,

then we find that the side which is turned towards the living beings changes according to the changes of the living beings (also in slight alterations); most distinctly where the light- or the shade-being is nearest to the living being.

The side which is turned away from the living beings with the light-beings gradually dissolves into light and with the shade-beings correspondingly dissolves into darkness.

Thus the light-beings and the shade-beings have the following tendencies:

– the tendency (of one body-side) to join the changes of    the living beings and

– the tendency of dissolving into light or darkness    respectively.

However, they have especially

– the tendency of drawing the living beings into light or     into darkness (in the most comprehensive sense).

They do this by intensifying the self-strengthening (positive) or the self-weakening (negative) actions of the living beings.

The light- and shade-beings do not influence each other directly, but only indirectly (through their influence on the living beings).

So we are dealing here with three groups of beings:

    – with living beings,
    – with their light-beings and
    – with their shade-beings.

The light-beings and the shade-beings can also be compared to the positive and the negative forces in nature. The living beings are neutral minded towards both, and thus are subject to the influence of both.
